Dragon’s Dogma 2: Mystic Knight Experience Tips and Insights

First, let’s talk about the basic skills of the Magic Swordsman. One of the core skills is Magic Bullet. A short press of the button releases a Fearful Magic Bullet, which does no damage but can kill small animals like mice and spiders, as well as temporarily stagger small enemies. Charging the skill releases a Sealing Magic Bullet, which immobilizes small enemies and slows down large enemies. There are two stages of charging, with the second stage having a slightly larger range. After hitting with the Sealing Magic Bullet, releasing it again creates a Dissipating Magic Bullet, which expands the range of the seal. Note that you should release the second magic bullet after hitting, and not release it immediately after the Sealing Magic Bullet.

For instant approach, after hitting with the Sealing/Dissipating Magic Bullet, press the jump key to teleport. This move is useful for clearing small monsters and attacking bosses. After immobilizing an enemy with the magic bullet, you can use a heavy attack to execute them directly. There are two types of execution: ground execution and aerial execution. You can also combine this skill with the later profession skills to quickly attack weak points from behind. More details will be explained later.
Note: 1. To perform the teleport immediately after the Dissipating Magic Bullet, you need to press the buttons very quickly, almost simultaneously. Otherwise, you won’t be able to teleport.
2. Teleportation must be done after hitting with the magic bullet, and you should not spam the button, as it will result in jumping.

Spiral Slash is the main attacking skill before obtaining the Master skill. The technique is to quickly press the light attack button, trying to press it as fast as possible. If you press it too slow, the skill won’t activate. However, it seems that pressing it too fast is also not good; you need to get familiar with the timing.
Note: Spiral Slash can be canceled by the Sealing Magic Bullet, so it’s best to develop a habit of charging the magic bullet at any time (similar to Nero’s charged shot).

Flying Dragon Lunge
Recommended rating: 4 out of 5
It can be used on both ground and air. However, it can only be used once in the air. It allows for long-range advancement and is useful for both battles and exploration. When fighting bosses, you can use the Flying Dragon Lunge to grab onto them (you can also use the magic bullet teleport). When riding on their back, if you are about to be thrown off, you can use the Flying Dragon Dodge and then use the magic bullet teleport to return, which is very smooth.

Tracking Magic Blade
Recommended rating: 3
The advantage of this skill is its automatic tracking capability, making it suitable for attacking flying units. However, it has relatively low damage.

Offering Sacrifice
Recommended rating: 3
It can make objects (such as barrels and wooden boxes) as well as stunned small enemies or enemy corpses float and throw them away. It looks cool, but the damage is low. However, it’s really satisfying to smash boxes with this skill.

Plundering Magic Hand
Recommended rating: 5
It absorbs the life of enemies and converts it into one’s own stamina. It’s a superb skill that speaks for itself.

Rebound Divine Cloth
Recommended rating: 5
It completely nullifies enemy attacks (except for shaking and some throwing techniques). It is one of the core skills of the Magic Swordsman. With this skill, you can easily defeat Amber Flame Dragon at level 20. You can even become a tank and bring three wizards to focus on shielding.

Dragon Tooth
Recommended rating: 5
Another core skill of the Magic Swordsman. It provides invincibility for a period of time, allowing you to evade any attack. This skill has an incredible feature where you can interrupt it with a magic bullet during the ascension phase, which allows for the technique of double or even triple jumps with the magic bullet. To perform this, hold the magic bullet charge (only one stage is enough), press Dragon Tooth, and release the magic bullet button during the ascending phase.
Double jump/triple jump: Dragon Tooth + Cancel Magic Bullet + Flying Dragon Lunge + Dragon Tooth + Magic Bullet Teleport + Dragon Tooth. (This move can be used to reach high places that cannot be reached through regular exploration, and can also be used for aerial pursuit, such as when Amber Flame Dragon is casting sky spells, you can directly fly up to it).

Sent to Extinction
Recommended rating: 2
Another acrobatic skill that is more showy than practical. Not highly recommended to use.

Magic Gun Shot Recommended rating: 4 A high-damage single-target ranged attack for the Sorcerer, but it has limited direction adjustment, around 60 degrees in all directions. You can use this skill on the boss’s head when they are knocked down, it’s very satisfying.

Hold Breath Charging Recommended rating: 2 This is a self-sacrificing skill that consumes health to quickly fill the magic bullets. Unless you purely want to control enemies, it’s best not to use this skill.

Rampant Gnawing Recommended rating: 6 This is the core damage-dealing skill for the Sorcerer, whether clearing small mobs or dealing with large enemies, it is very powerful. However, it consumes a lot of stamina, so it is recommended to use it in combination with the Plundering Magic Hand and Second Phase Enhancement skills.

Passive Skill Recommendations Just follow the recommendations in the game’s skill tree, I can’t recall which passive skill belongs to which class, so check them in the game. In this generation, the output-type passive skills are generally average, so it’s better to bring some defense and support skills.

Skill Combination Heavenly Dragon + Soaring Dragon + Absorb Stamina + Shield (pick three) + Rampant Gnawing. If using the skill-switching mod, then I recommend using Heavenly Dragon + Soaring Dragon + Shield + Rampant Gnawing (melee), and Absorb Stamina + Magic Blade + Sacrifice + Magic Gun (ranged).

Weapon Enhancement It depends on your playstyle. For the Sorcerer, the ranged attacks and the clones from Rampant Gnawing scale with magic attack, while others scale with physical attack. Personally, I recommend enhancing both physical and magical damage with Dwarf enhancement, and focus on high stagger power.

Playstyle For clearing small mobs, you can start with instant teleportation followed by execution, then go into melee combat with Rampant Gnawing. When fighting bosses, there are several strategies:

  1. Against regular bosses, you can use Heavenly Dragon + Instant Teleportation + Heavenly Dragon Backstab, then follow up with Rampant Gnawing for damage output.
  2. For long-range or aerial bosses, you can use Heavenly Dragon + Cancelled Magic Bullet + Soaring Dragon + Instant Teleportation to catch them, then continue with Heavenly Dragon Backstab.
  3. When you’re about to be thrown off the boss, you can use Soaring Dragon Dodge + Instant Teleportation + Heavenly Dragon Return (Dante Artisan).
  4. It’s recommended to bring mages with master skills as companions to have infinite stamina.
  5. If you want to maximize damage output with Rampant Gnawing, you can bring Magic Blade, and use it while performing Rampant Gnawing (similar to Nero’s Blue Rose).
  6. When the boss is knocked down, you can use Spiral Slash if you don’t have enough stamina, or continue with Rampant Gnawing if you have enough stamina. Alternatively, you can charge up a Magic Gun shot for a finishing blow.
