Dragon’s Dogma 2: Advantages of the Archer

First of all, many people criticized the need for special arrows to be used with specific items and dedicated skills. When I initially set up my follower as an archer, upon seeing this setting, I immediately switched to being a mage. Indeed, I didn’t understand it at first. However, after using the archer, I found that since you can only bring a total of four skills, I could simply not use special skills or special arrows, and that would be enough. It seems that other regular skills can fully meet the practical needs of four skills. However, I am unsure if not using special arrows in the late game will result in relatively weaker output capabilities.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Advantages of the Archer

As for the comparison with the first installment, the Archer class was completely split off. Initially, I thought the design of the Ranger class in the first game was quite good. The Warrior focused on defense and offense, the Mage on firepower and support, so the Ranger clearly was focused on close combat and ranged combat. In this installment, close combat and ranged combat were split into two separate classes. But if you only play from ranged, the split has the advantage of making the gameplay more straightforward, especially when encountering groups of small enemies while exploring. You can simply shoot without needing to aim deliberately or chase after enemies, making it very relaxing.

The weaknesses of the archer are also apparent: insufficient survival ability and output capability. However, the advantage is convenience and relaxation. They are not suitable for tough battles but very comfortable for daily exploration. While playing as a warrior may be strong, dealing with groups of goblins mixed with harpies and wolves during exploration can be very challenging. It’s not about whether you can defeat them, but rather how tiresome it can be. Playing as an archer is much easier; you don’t have to worry about enemy types and can simply shoot on the spot no matter what you encounter.
