Stardew Valley 1.6: Complete Farm Map Layout and Ideas

Preface
I have been eagerly awaiting the release of version 1.6 of Stardew Valley for many months, and finally, the new map has arrived.

After a long break, I have returned to Stardew Valley to continue my life as a farmer. After completing the new map perfectly, this game has come to a temporary conclusion for me. With over 1100 hours of gameplay, it is indeed enjoyable, but the high level of repetition can become a bit boring. Initially, I only completed 100% progress on the Standard Farm map that I played. It seems that the layout of the farm in the later stages has become the most enjoyable aspect of this game for me.

First, let me talk about the mods I used. Because I am not good at fishing, when I first started playing this game, it almost made me quit. Later on, I learned how to use mods to enhance my gaming experience, after all, games are meant to make you happy. However, after the new version update, most of the mods became ineffective, making it difficult for me to fish on the new map, resulting in a slow start.

Next, I’ll share my farm layouts. My layouts are limited to the farm and Ginger Island, without altering the terrain of the town or mines, as I play alone and did not consider the placement of multiplayer cabins. I do not have a high aesthetic sense, so my arrangements are purely based on practicality. Therefore, unlike other experts who design their farms and towns beautifully, my layouts are just for reference.

Since version 1.6 reduced the size of the Slime Hutch, I only made slight adjustments to the Slime Hutch and left the other layouts untouched.

Standard Farm

Standard Farm – Night

The Standard Farm was the first map I played, and I feel it is the best-designed map.

One large field is 558-8=192 tiles, complemented by two fully upgraded Coops, each with 137 kegs (keg layout details will be explained below). The winemaking flow includes Strawberries in spring, Starfruit in summer, Cranberries in fall, and rest in winter (but still brew Cranberries in fall), allowing for year-round winemaking and steady income.

The fruit trees in the bottom left corner could free up a large space for more fields, but it would affect the symmetry, so I left it as it is.

Haymaking is easy to learn, but it requires hay pressing every spring, which can be time-consuming. It can be troublesome if you have many animals. Therefore, in the later stages, including other maps, I mostly bought hay directly instead of making it myself.

In the end, there are 8 keg sheds, 2 sheds with Greenhouses (details on shed and Greenhouse layouts and coordination will be discussed later), and regarding hiding lights and scarecrows behind buildings, although generally, I like to place them behind structures, it works well on this farm map too.

Riverland Farm

Personally, I feel that this map is the least well-designed among all the maps, and honestly, I’m not very satisfied with its design. Early on, money comes in slowly, so I focused on fishing and mining, then quickly headed to Joja route and opened Ginger Island to earn money.

In the end, there are 4 keg sheds, 2 sheds with Greenhouses (and surplus fruits are brewed in winter).

Forest Farm

There isn’t much to say about the Forest Farm. I think it looks great paired with autumn.

In the end, there are 6 keg sheds, 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

Beach Farm

Beach Farm – Night

The Beach Farm is a fun map where the farmable area seems to be only 558=200 tiles. So, I chose the Beach Pig farming flow, where 4 deluxe Barns can house 48 pigs. With the Botanist skill, you can collect around 100 truffles in a day. Pairing a deluxe coop with an oil maker makes truffle oil, while selling off the pigs at the end of fall to buy piglets can be quite profitable, albeit slower.

In the end, there are 3 keg sheds, 2 sheds for oil making, 1 shed for miscellaneous items, and 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

There’s not much to say about this map, except to note that depending on personal needs, adding a shield from the Witch to prevent monsters from entering the farm in the later stages is essential.

In the end, there is 1 shed for miscellaneous items, 6 keg sheds, and 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

Hill-top Farm – Night

For me, the Hill-top Farm is the second most challenging to design due to the fragmented land leading to incorporating many decorative elements. Despite my efforts, the outcome still looks a bit chaotic.

A reminder: do not plant trees too close to the fields; there should be a minimum gap of 2 tiles to prevent tree seeds from falling on the ground and affecting farming.

In the end, there is 1 shed for miscellaneous items, 5 keg sheds, and 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

As a multiplayer map, playing with a few friends on this map is very enjoyable. Of course, it’s also suitable for solo play.

In the end, there are 10 keg sheds and 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

Regarding the new map, I felt quite awkward. It was supposed to be a pasture-focused farm (ranch), but the area is smaller than the Beach Farm, with less arable land that is divided by ponds. The only advantage seems to be the Blue Jazz, but I didn’t end up using it later on. The layout is a bit tricky, but overall, I am somewhat satisfied.

In the end, there are 5 keg sheds, 1 shed for oil making, 1 shed for miscellaneous items, and 2 sheds with Greenhouses.

Ginger Island Farm

I thought that with the new update, I could build houses on Ginger Island and decorate them, but since it didn’t happen, I quickly arranged it somehow. With 48*6=288 tiles, and 288 kegs for wine-making, I maintained a 1:1 ratio to avoid bringing burdens back to Stardew Valley.

Since Ginger Island is always in summer, I chose Ancient Fruit. Although Starfruit is more profitable, Ancient Fruit does not require repeated planting every season, making it easier to manage. After all, the slight difference in profit from Starfruit Wine and Ancient Fruit Wine does not matter in the later stages.

Greenhouse, Chicken Coop, Barn, and Shed

Greenhouse

This is the recommended optimal layout for the Greenhouse—119 tiles and 18 fruit trees. Since fruits bear fruit every 3 days, and wine takes 7 days to brew, I equipped each farm with 1 Greenhouse and 2 deluxe sheds for keg placement. The remaining space can be utilized for redundant fruit to ease the pressure on the farm.

Finally, there are Chicken Coops, Cows and Sheep Barns, and Sheds. As there is enough space, I placed all their processing tools inside without separately setting them up in a shed; you just need to follow the corresponding livestock number to manufacture and arrange them.

Shed

I believe this is the optimal solution for arranging kegs in sheds.

Farm Sheds, Cellar, and Ginger Island Sheds

The last save file showcases a well-decorated home, serving as a commemoration. However, due to my limited imagination, the results were not particularly striking, but they are still satisfactory.

The Cellar was also not used for winemaking; I just decorated it for aesthetics.
